Currently we are engaged in helping The Women's Foundation (Hong Kong) develop a grant making program by supporting it's "stakeholder engagement" with web based tools and research. Stakeholder engagement means consulting the community about the best way to work on promoting economic self sufficiency for women and girls.
TWF has published a ground breaking research report and had funded 18 NGOs in
Hong Kong.
What FWAsia has Done for The Women’s Foundation:
Money:
FWAsia has raised and/or served a repository for US$55,000 in funding. These funds are being used to pay for an ED and office.
In October 2006, FWAsia hosted a reception for a TWF Board Member, Shalini Mathani,
in N.Y.
Editing and Writing:
FWAsia edited The Status of Women and Girls in Hong Kong, 2006 and wrote the executive summary. FWAsia also recently edited the TWF Newsletter and is assisting in a project to ensure consistent graphics and terminology in TWF materials. We also wrote the text for the Symposium Report, having presented the 2006 Report at the Symposium in Hong Kong,
in March 2006.
US Presence:
FWAsia wrote and submitted a statement to the UN CEDAW Committee in August 2006. Board members have attended WFN meetings on behalf of both TWF and FWAsia and have met with representative of US groups.
Research:
In addition to oversight of the 2006 Report, FWAsia is assisting TWF’s stakeholder engagement process by developing web based net working systems and building a web based resource data base.
Capacity Building:
TWF is developing a grant making program and FWAsia is building a girls grant
making proposal.
FWAsia assisted in the search for a new ED, including job description and employment contact. In the past, we have helped draft policies for the Board and Board of Advisors.
FWAsia has interviewed and supervised interns who assist with TWF work, such as translation and the girls grant making project. |
